"Oshun" Ocean's Waters Bar Soap

$14.00

This soap was born from the ocean herself. After not being with her for a few years, I found myself called to her holding, her power, her ability to set boundaries and show you all the versions of herself. The ocean is gentle yet forceful, cleansing and stripping, a mother of the deepest depths. After a day of crying with her, honoring her, swimming in her, and watching her, I heard “you can put me in soap.”

Oshun is a deity often associated with the Yaruba people. My grandfather was from Cuba; half Spanish from colonization and half Taino, the native peoples. I first heard songs to Oshun a few years ago and for some reason felt very called to her. It was then I realized my lineage, and the lineage all peoples have to all waters. We are all water people.

Oshun is a way for us to cleanse, for women to connect to their sensuality, their fertility, their love and compassion and higher way of being. How we can walk as water bearers, bearers of emotion and deep feeling.

Use this soap to connect with your inner waters, the waters of the earth, and especially the force and healing of the ocean.

Made with ocean water collected in New Jersey, red sand, and sea shells gifted from the beach with the intention of being given to you through soap.

More than just a healing ally, each soap has a foundational base of oils and butters that also work together to be a healing soap for the skin.

Olive Oil: Cleanses as well as moisturizes. I soak dried eucalyptus, sage, pine, rose, chamomile, mullein, mugwort, lavender, marshmallow and rosemary in olive oil for two months to extract anti-aging, calming, anti-fungal, and anti-bacterial properties from the plants so that the soap is just as healing for the skin as it is for the spirit. All herbs I either grow, forage, or buy from local farms. Truly farm to shower soap. :)

Coconut Oil: A great cleanser for the skin and makes for a harder bar

Cocoa Butter: Soothes dry or itchy skin and deeply moisturizes and makes for a longer lasting bar

Shea Butter: Reduces signs of aging as well as moisturizing

Mango Butter: Has moisturizing properties, helping to hydrate and soften skin, reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, and soothe irritated skin. Can help protect the skin from environmental damage, promote healing, and may even offer some UV protection

Avocado Oil: Helps with eczema and acne

Castor Oil: Reduces inflammation and can help with acne

Locally sourced Spring Water

I live near a beautiful spring that locals have been collecting as drinking water for years. I have never tasted water so pure and life giving. Each soap is made with this same spring water, which we pray to and give gifts to every time we go. This is truly a labor of love and the energy of the water is pure and loving.

Packaging

The labels for every soap is made out of recycled paper. I make every label from scratch and print it out at home with an eco friendly printer. For this reason, the label may not be what you see at stores, but is able to be recycled. I reuse packaging from past orders I myself have made and reuse bags I also was given as a way to reduce, reuse and recycle. You will find each package has its own charm!

Ritually made in small batches on ceded Lenape land. Always intentionally worked with, prayed over, and made with offerings and the permission and collaboration of the plants and their want to be with us in many forms.
